How I got started in Triathlon.
My mom was racing triathlons in the early 90s and would always convince me to sign up “just for fun.” Eventually, I started training for longer distance races and moved my way from the mid-pack to the pointy end of the race.
What’s the best triathlon advice someone ever gave you?
Race your own race. You can’t control anyone else, but yourself.
What's the worst triathlon advice someone ever gave you?
Train like you race. Um no, doing that will break your body. Train well and save something for the race.
What has been your most challenging race experience?
Ironman Canada 2015. The sleet and cold for hours on end. It wasn’t pretty.
What advice would you offer to age-groupers who wish to improve in the sport of triathlon?
Hire a coach! (I know a good one) Even as a coach, there has been nothing more valuable than having someone else care about my training and well being.
